Hospitality Committee

Monticello Chamber has scheduled the first Hospitality Committee meeting for our area. Businesses (restaurants, hotels, activity groups) having an interest in promoting Monticello should contact the Chamber at 295-2700 or info@monticellocci.com. The first meeting is Wed. February 11 at 10:00AM, Crostini Grille. If you would like to participate or have ideas for this group, please let us know.

Attendance: Michelle (Crostini Grille); Michael (Applebees); Kriste (Albertville Outlet’s); Craig (River City Extreme); Perry (Best Western Chelsea Inn & Chin Yuen); Sandy Suchy (Chamber)

Objectives: Identify ways to reach Local Residents & Visitors, before they get to Monticello; open communication between hospitality businesses

Follow Up/Action Items:
Sandy to contact new Hockey Arena Manager
Sandy to Confirm Community Education Schedule Monthly – email to restaurants
Sandy to talk with Jim Johnson - see if there is a way for Chamber to receive team information ahead of time to solicit our businesses. (emailed Jim Johnson)
Get Hospitality information to Monticello Nuclear Plant (emailed Pat Thompson)
Sandy to confirm with Trisha softball schedule to solicit package hotel/restaurant deals.
Chamber’s Website – area dedicated to Hospitality. This area will be upgraded and better utilized. Businesses are encouraged to add free Hot Deals to the website at no charge. (Some businesses may offer discounts to those groups that call in advance).
Perry currently sends out information packages ahead of time to some groups. Contact Perry if you’d like your business included in this information.
Albertville Premium Outlets is looking for partners that would compliment Albertville Premium Outlets. Unfortunately they are unable to list other retail competition and reserve the right to carefully select partners’ coupons to post. Restaurants, hotels, attractions, etc. (Instructions included with this email).
Chamber to utilize Kiosk when available to advertise Monticello – shop, eat in Monticello, spend the day checking out Monticello, Save Gas and Time stay local/eat local, Did you know Monticello has ___ restaurants?
Talk with Trisha about local theme night, to get local people to learn about different types of restaurants.
Big Lake is organizing 5 restaurants each offering a different course of the meal. Consider having Monticello Chamber sponsor this event - all chamber members could be included. This might be an idea for National Night Out.
Sandy to send information to membership regarding Google Maps; how to identify your business on GPS’s or change incorrect information about your business. Businesses are also able to add photos of business. Speaker scheduled to share more information at a Chamber Lunch.
A piece of legislation important to the tourist industry involves the date school starts in MN. Perry to get information about bill number to Sandy, govt affairs will follow this bill.

NEXT MEETING: Hospitality Committee will meet monthly, 2nd Wednesday of each month, at Crostini Grille at 10:00AM. All hospitality businesses are encouraged to attend, to share information and suggestions.

Lodging Rooms Available in Monticello: 180 total; (52 rooms at Best Western); Country Inn & Suites, Albertville, has 60 rooms available.
